'jailed' in new Big Brother-style show The contestants of the new Channel 5 show Jailbreak are due to be imprisoned today as the Big Brother-style programme gets under way. The ten inmates were "arrested" in their homes and taken to the mock jail in Cuffley, Hertfordshire. They have three weeks to escape from the open jail - with the first to escape winning a £100,000 cash prize. The first show, which is presented by Red Dwarf star Craig Charles, will be broadcast on Tuesday September 12 at 7pm. Some 35 cameras will watch their every move and viewers will be able to observe the inmates 24 hours a day on the Channel 5 website www.channel5.co.uk/jailbreak. The public can influence the outcome of the show by offering the prisoners escape advice via email and phone. The viewer with the best advice will win £20,000. Former prison governor Jim Heyes will manage the prison staff, including the chefs, nurses and psychiatrists and a team of 35 prison officers.
