Red Dwarf star to host 'jailbreak' game show Red Dwarf star Craig Charles is to present Jailbreak - a TV programme in which contestants can win £100,000 for escaping from a mock prison. Charles - who presents Robot Wars as well as being in the space adventure comedy - will replace Ulrika Jonsson who had to pull out of Jailbreak due to recent health fears for her unborn baby. Channel 5 said Jailbreak will see 10 "inmates" locked away at a secret location near Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, in an open prison regime. In Big Brother style, 35 cameras will watch their every move. A prize of £100,000 is available to the first inmate to escape, but they must evade 35 prison guards, an 18-foot high fence topped with razor wire and hi-tech security systems. If contestants escape in a group - which the rules state can be no more than three - the prize money will be divided among them. After the first escape the award for breaking out reduces on a sliding scale. Viewers can e-mail contestants with escape tips and the production team chooses only five messages a day that each contestant can read. A viewer who helps a contestant escape, by way of e-mail, will pick up 10% of their prize money. Jailbreak starts on September 12 at 7pm on Channel 5. It will last three weeks.
