BBC in talks with rebel Castaway The BBC is locked in crisis talks with the second "Castaway" rebel to quit the show since filming began on the project in January. The departure of Ron Copsey, 43, comes four months after Lancashire builder Ray Bowyer left the remote Scottish island of Taransay where the fly-on-the-wall documentary is being made. Mr Copsey is currently staying at the Harris Hotel in Tarbert, Harris where talks with BBC production staff are taking place. The trainee psychotherapist from west London has reportedly blamed personality clashes and "inflated egos" for his decision to leave the Hebridean island. The former Kew Gardens' worker's temper tantrums have been one of the highlights of the show and are said to be one of the main factors behind its high viewing figures. Speaking from his hotel in Harris he claimed he was unable to speak to the press because of a "gagging order" in his contract. A BBC spokeswoman would only confirm that Mr Copsey was "with production" and that each of the castaways had signed a document which forbids them from talking to the press for the duration of the £2.4 million project. Earlier the BBC issued a statement which read: "Ron made it clear that he had been finding life on the island difficult and he left on Saturday." Further details of Mr Copsey's departure are expected to emerge during the course of the programme. Mr Bowyer, 59, left the remote island in March following a number of incidents involving other members of the group.
