The Producer's "Spin"The producers of the programme said that "This is a testing project asking a lot of the people involved and it can take its toll. We don't want to give away too much because viewers will see for themselves the events leading to Mr Bowyer's departure. Ray is an ordinary chap who has good moments and bad, like any of us" The original programmes showing the selection process and the arrival on Taransay proved to be immensely popular. Even before this recent incident, it had been decided to bring forward the next programme (originally scheduled for next year) to the early summer. The other residents of Taransay are expected to continue to live on the island until the end of the year. Of course, while they have had to cope with the raging gales of the last few months, they haven't met the midges yet - millions of mosquito-like insects that enjoy the making a meal of any passing humans! It is understood that the programme, which is sometimes described as a "docu-soap", is being sold to North American TV companies. The recent media publicity will surely help sales in other countries too! |
