Punters back 'nasty Nick' for Big Breakfast job Punters stand to win a small fortune if 'nasty' Nick Bateman replaces Johnny Vaughn as presenter of the Big Breakfast. Littlewoods says it has taken several bets on the internet at odds of 50-1 for the 33-year-old stockbroker, who has been kicked out of Big Brother for cheating, to take over Vaughn's job. Following his eviction, another punter placed a bet of £50 at 100-1 for Nick to replace Martin Kemp in EastEnders. And another bet has been taken at odds of 100-1 that Nick will rejoin the Territorial Army. He told fellow contestants he was a member of the organisation for several years. Perhaps more realistically in view of his reputation, bets have been taken at odds of 3-1 for Nick to emigrate. Littlewoods has also taken an internet bet at 20-1 for a song composed by the contestants as one of their weekly tasks to go to the top of the charts. And a lucky punter stands to win £1,000 if Nick's replacement is the last contestant left in the house. The £20 bet was placed before the 10-week experiment started, with odds of 100-1 that if any contestant was replaced then the replacement would win. A Littlewoods spokeswoman says the volume of internet betting on Big Brother has been "absolutely astounding". "People are asking us for all sorts of bets, some of which we can take and others we can't. It's bigger than the election here or the US election," she says. "We thought the birth of the Blair baby was big but this has really gone mad - the whole country seems to be gripped by it."
