'Nasty' Nick laughs all the way to the bank

"Nasty" Nick Bateman, thrown off the Big Brother television programme for trying to influence voting in an attempt to win the prize money, seems to be having the last laugh after selling his story to a national newspaper.

The former stockbroker has signed an exclusive deal to reveal insights into life inside the house where the remaining tenant picks up £70,000, while he could earn more than £1 million.

Earlier shaven-headed Nichola, the textile artist from Bolton was evicted after 72% of the public voted her out, and 28% wanted Craig, a builder from Liverpool, to leave.

Nichola left the purpose-built site in east London, her home for the past 36 days, strutting in knee-high boots and a skimpy dress she had knitted herself for the occasion, before happily signed autographs for the waiting crowd of fans.

Meanwhile PR guru Max Clifford says that over the coming year Nick could earn more than £1 million through newspaper exclusives, advertising contracts and even playing the baddie at panto.

Mr Clifford said: "He can make a lot of money very quickly. If he is as devious and ruthless as he comes across there's a career for him in PR, or politics obviously."

In the Channel 4 studio after her eviction Nichola said of Nick: "I really respected the guy. They all put him on a pedestal.

"What got on my nerves was that it was going on for about three weeks. I had absolutely no idea."

She added that the trickster's excuses for his competitive behaviour, having come from a big family, gone to boarding school, and worked in the City, did not wash with her.

However, she did concede that "he has not committed a crime, he has broken house rules with Big Brother. It is not as if he has killed anybody or done any harm to anyone".
