THE TABLOIDS DON'T LIKE JADE HERE'S WHY
By MEL HUNTER
TWO-FACED Jade Goody may be having a hard
time inside the Big Brother house but that’s nothing compared with the
hassle she will get outside.
Like Nasty Nick Bateman before her, dimwit
Jade is fast becoming one of the most hated people in Britain.
Viewers are stunned by the blonde’s
stupidity and shocked by her bitchiness.
During her five weeks in the house, the
21-year-old dental nurse has found only one thing she is good at —
stabbing her housemates in the back.
The same behaviour landed Nasty Nick in hot
water after he left the house during the show’s first series two years
ago. He was subjected to months of abuse and told The Sun how his dramatic
exit had left him fearing the future.
He said he lived in fear of being beaten
up. Unless Jade has a dramatic personality change, there are fears she may
suffer the same fate. Jade looks set to be evicted this week,
after apparently being nominated for eviction by her housemates.
The group cast their votes yesterday and a
glimpse of the nominations in the diary room on E4 show Big Brother’s
Little Brother suggested Jade’s time was up.
Jade has already had a taste of things to
come when she leaves the Big Brother house. She overheard chants of “Get
Jade Out” on the night Sophie was evicted last week. She urged fellow
housemates to listen to the crowd and said: “Can you hear that? They
want me out.”
Referring to her romp with fellow housemate
PJ, she added: “Oh my God. I’m hated on the outside as well and it’s
all because of you PJ.”
Evicted housemate Lee Davey told The Sun
Jade — dubbed Miss Piggy — would have a tough time when she comes out.
He said: “Every time I go out people ask
me what it was like with Jade. They want to climb over the fence and punch
her. There will be a lot of boos when she comes out — and I’ll be
leading them.
“She’s an idiot and I will have no
sympathy for her when she comes out. She will have brought all the hassle
upon herself.
“She has shown she is a bitch. I have
never met anyone as two-faced as her before. She may have had a tough
upbringing but you would think that would make her more streetwise.”
He blasted her for having a fling with PJ
and warned that Jade’s boyfriend Danny Benstead is unlikely to stick
around.
But it is not just postman Danny who may do
a runner. Jade will be lucky if any of her friends stick around.
She will also have to face abuse from
viewers who have seen her play one housemate off against the other.
The Sun revealed last week how Jade had
been ordered to see the show psychotherapist in the diary room after
viewers complained about her bitching.
She had branded Sophie “irritating” and
“minging”. The show’s bosses feared angry viewers would make
Jade’s life hell unless she cleaned up her act.
After the session with the shrink Jade
vowed to change and started by apologising to Sophie.
But viewers are unlikely to be fooled. They
have had enough of Jade’s boozing and bitching.
Nasty Nick Bateman says Jade will be in for
a surprise. He said: “She will get a tough time from the Press and the
public but at the end of the day she has been warned.
“She could quite easily have seen what
happened to people from series one and two and therefore expect the same
level of criticism. It will be difficult for her and I’m not sure she
has the strength to cope.
“If I were her I’d go away for three or
four weeks until all the fuss has died down. One thing is certain — she
will soon find out who her true friends are.”
Nick said if Jade wanted advice from him,
all she had to do was call.
However, The Sun’s agony aunt Deidre
Sanders says we should not be too quick to judge Jade. Deidre said: “She
is a product of her upbringing.”
That upbringing includes a difficult
childhood in Bermondsey, South London.
Her parents split when she was a toddler.
Mum Jacqueline lost the use of an arm in a motorcycle accident and her dad
is in jail.
Jade herself has admitted to being caught
shoplifting in the exclusive London department store Deidre warns that Jade will feel the
emotional “come down” on the outside much harder than most.
But a spokesman for Big Brother insisted
that Jade was tough enough to cope with whatever came her way.
He says: “They all get a big talk before
they go into the house to prepare them for an intense experience and they
are warned that this could be a really bad time.
It is called the ‘talk of doom’ and it
is basically to put them off and warn them of the possible consequences
— and to check they are tough enough to cope whatever the outcome.
“We have strong aftercare for contestants
and their families. We won’t abandon her.”
But even the headteacher of Jade’s old
school is worried about his former pupil. Tony Perry is principal of
Bacon’s College where Jade spent her formative years.
The school has been blasted for giving
dimwit Jade a poor education but Bacon’s College in Rotherhithe, South
East London, is in fact one of Britain’s best state schools.
Last year it had a 72 per cent GCSE pass
rate at grades A to C. Mr Perry said: “We did try our very best for her,
as we do for all our pupils.”
Yet for all the bad Press which Jade may
have brought Bacon’s College, the school’s headteacher has nothing but
sympathy for his former pupil.
He told The Sun: “I feel very
uncomfortable about a young person being put in the artificial goldfish
bowl of Big Brother.
“I think it is very cynical and very
exploitative.
“And I am worried about what will become
of Jade after the experience.” Aren’t we all, Mr Perry. Aren’t we
all.
