New Big Brother house is more homely The house purpose-built for the second series of Big Brother has a more homely feel to help the contestants cope with their isolation
TV bosses have incorporated a large number of solar panels to provide power to the house. They are also hoping to use the panels to power some of the electrical equipment used to produce the round-the-clock television coverage. Gardencroft was invited to have a sneak preview of the Big Brother 2 house and can report that it leaves behind the "penal chic" style of the original Big Brother.
There are larger rooms decorated in a style the Big Brother team has dubbed cabin-fever. The interior features cabin-style pine-paneled walls, wooden floors and log stools - with a large open fire in the centre of the lounge.
A spokesman for the programme's producers told Gardencroft: "The mellow earthy colours make the house more inviting, natural and homely for the contestants' isolation from society."
